Emergency Power
An important function of a battery storage system is the emergency power function.
Our SAX Power Home and Plus systems are also emergency-power capable, which is why our customers often ask us how exactly the function is used.
For this reason, we have summarised an overview of the different types of emergency power here.
Basic emergency power
The storage system supplies power to an emergency socket until it is empty. Typically, appliances such as a refrigerator or freezer are then supplied.
Requirements: none – an extension cable is run to the consumer to be supplied.
Extended emergency power
The storage system continues to supply an entire phase with power until its charge is depleted.
Requirement: mains isolator switch – with 3 storage systems, three-phase supply is also possible.
Backup power
The SAX Power storage system sets up its own home grid. The photovoltaic system continues to supply the house with power and continues to charge the storage system. If the photovoltaic system no longer supplies power and the storage system’s charge is depleted, the storage system can rebuild the grid as soon as solar power is available again (black start).
Requirements: storage system with black-start function and mains isolator switch
Our SAX Power Home systems can already cover the first two emergency power solutions; from mid-2024, the black-start function will be optionally available, adding backup power.
